Legislation, organisation, functioning, responsibilities
The National Office for Vine and Wine Products operates in accordance with the legal provisions in force and carries out its activity under the authority of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The organisation, functioning and responsibilities of the National Office for Vine and Wine Products are established in compliance with national legislation and European Union regulations applicable to the vine and wine sector.
The institution ensures the implementation of the legal framework governing the production, certification, control and marketing of vine and wine products.
In carrying out its activity, the National Office for Vine and Wine Products performs the following main responsibilities:
- applies national and European legislation in the vine and wine sector
- manages the Vineyard Register (RPV)
- ensures the certification of wines with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI)
- carries out control and inspection activities regarding compliance with legal provisions
- ensures the traceability of vine and wine products
- collaborates with national authorities and European institutions in the field
The activity of the institution is carried out in accordance with the principles of legality, transparency and efficiency, ensuring the proper functioning of the vine and wine sector.
